"There is no secret so close as that between a rider and his horse."

About Our Program

Getting Started

  • Your first lesson is an assessment of your current skills, or simply an introduction to the barn and riding. The first lesson is $50.
  • Students and parents are encouraged to come out and visit prior to the first lesson. Simply call for an appointment!

Private and Group Lessons

  • Tier One private lessons are 30 minutes and are $40 per lesson.
  • Tier Two private lessons are 45 minutes and are $50 per lesson - these lessons are intended for more advanced riders who wish to ride privately as well as in groups.
  • Once a student has achieved a skill level that enables him or her to ride independently off of the lunge line, he or she may be placed in a group lesson.
  • Tier Three lessons are 1 hour group lessons and are $50 per lesson.
  • Students may stay in private lessons as long as they wish, or may stay in privates at the instructor's advisement.
  • Lessons must be purchased in a set of 2, 3, 4, or more lessons, and must be paid for by the 5th of the month.
  • All lessons must be taken within the month paid for. Lessons will not carry over into the next month.
  • Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours notice will not be made up, regardless of circumstances.

Age Requirements and Attire/Equipment

  • A child should be at least 6 years old to be considered for formal lessons. Adult students are also accepted.
  • Students are required to purchase jodphur pants and paddock boots if under 12 years of age. Students older than 12 may purchase breeches and tall boots if they so choose.
  • Half chaps with jodphur pants or breeches are acceptable. Shorts and/or jeans with full chaps are not acceptable attire for lessons.
  • All students must purchase an ASTM/SEI approved helmet, regardless of age.

Time Involved

At Abingdon Park each student will learn horsemanship as well as riding.  A period of 30 minutes both before and after your actual riding lesson is required in order to properly take care of your horse and equipment.

Julie is patient, dedicated, and passionate about training young equestrians. Our daughter has learned much more than how to ride a horse. She has learned responsibilty, gained personal confidence, and increased self-esteem. Julie is by far the best trainer our daughter has worked with. Thank you Julie for being such a strong role model for our precious daughter!
